Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd donated 4 million meals to Gaza.

However, This is because he serves as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

Due to the current crisis in Gaza. The Weeknd donated 4 million meals. He did this by contributing over $2.5 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund. And his aim is to aid the emergency humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

This extraordinary donation which translates into a substantial provision of four million meals. Produced the funding of 820 metric tons of food parcels, capable of sustaining over 173,000 Palestinians for a two-week period.

Amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, which intensified on October 7th. WFP has been actively involved in delivering essential food assistance to more than 764,000 Palestinians.

Working collaboratively with various UN agencies, local partners, and regional implementing partners. WFP strives to address the critical humanitarian needs arising from the crisis.

Corinne Fleischer, WFP’s Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe Region. Emphasized the severity of the situation, stating…

“This conflict has unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe beyond reckoning.

WFP is working round the clock to provide aid in Gaza. But a major scale-up is needed to address the desperate level of hunger we are seeing”.

Abel’s profound commitment to humanitarian causes has been evident since his appointment as a Goodwill Ambassador in October 2021.

Beyond this significant contribution, He has consistently supported WFP’s global hunger-relief mission through personal donations.

Looking ahead to 2024, The Weeknd plans to further contribute by dedicating the equivalent of $1 per concert ticket sold.

Although, It would be during the global leg of his After Hours ’til Dawn stadium tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund.
