JAY-Z and his mother, Dr. Gloria Carter, received recognition at the Brooklyn Public Library Gala a prestigious event held this week.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams had the honor of introducing JAY-Z during the glamorous evening on Monday night (October 2). He did this by celebrating the hometown icon and his family.

At the event, JAY-Z took the stage and delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of his mother, who, unfortunately, couldn’t attend.

He explained…

“I figured if these young men could speak on behalf of their dad, I could speak on behalf of my mom.”

JAY-Z humorously mentioned that his mother had to see a doctor earlier. And her absence was due to a not-so-great excuse. He couldn’t lie to the good people of Brooklyn.

Addressing the audience, JAY-Z continued with anecdotes about his family. He mentioned his cousin, Jamar White, who was present at the event. Playfully, he shared…

“Jamar’s a real cousin. You know you get a lot of cousins once you start making it. Noodles, we called him Noodles.”

Furthermore, he light-heartedly suggested that his mother’s absence might be attributed to her being hungover, making the audience chuckle.

The Brooklyn Public Library is currently hosting “The Book of HOV” exhibition. This is a multimedia showcase that opened in July and will run until December.

However, the extensive exhibition features thousands of archived items. Including original recording masters, never-before-seen photos, iconic stage attire, and prestigious awards. It also includes videos, and artifacts from every aspect of JAY-Z’s professional life.

Last month, the exhibition added another highlight. It was about the installation of JAY-Z’s iconic off-white 1993 Lexus GS 300 from his “Dead Presidents” music video.

The Lexus featured in JAY-Z’s “Dead Presidents” visual, his lyrics in “Can I Live,” and the #1 hit, “Empire State Of Mind.”

Although, the partnership with Lexus enhances the exhibit’s immersive experience. And extends its run until December to accommodate the overwhelming response from visitors.

JAY-Z’s busy schedule also included hosting the REFORM Alliance’s inaugural Casino Night Event in Atlantic City over the past weekend. Due to this, it successfully raised $24 million for criminal justice reform through a charity blackjack tournament.

The star-studded event saw the presence of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Tom Brady, Travis Scott, Jack Harlow, Quavo, Lil Baby, Meek Mill, and more, all contributing to this worthy cause.
