Swizz Beatz And Timbaland Battle At 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, the creators of Verzuz, took center stage at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards. But this time they appeared as MCs in a musical battle featuring some of today’s hottest artists.
On Tuesday (October 10). The BET Hip Hop Awards featured the two legendary producers. Together, they were in a longstanding cypher segment of the show. And each of them led their respective crews for a showdown filled with intense rhymes.
Furthermore, Swizz Beatz assembled a team of skilled rappers. This included Foggieraw, Symba, Scar Lip, and Philadelphia veteran Cassidy.
While Timbaland, was represented by talented female lyricists Lola Brooke. Lady London, Gloss Up, and Houston rap legend Bun B, were also with him.
In each cypher. The crews showcased their lyrical prowess over some of Swizz and Timbaland’s iconic beats.
It also featured tracks like Busta Rhymes‘ “Touch It”, The LOX’s “Fuck You,” and JAY-Z featuring UGK’s “Big Pimpin’.”
However, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland didn’t just perform. They were also honored at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.
The award was for the Rock The Bells Cultural Influence.
Accepting the award. Timbaland expressed his gratitude. And he also shared his journey from making music in Virginia to receiving recognition at a Hip Hop event.
“I always dreamed I would be on the stage accepting the award about Hip Hop. Doing music back in Virginia, [I] never thought I would make it, but now I’m here!” Said Timbaland.
Although, Swizz took a moment to dedicate the award to all producers who started with nothing and turned it into something.
He also remembered the late DMX and his Ruff Ryders family. Recently, Timbaland attended Swizz Beatz’s birthday party.
The debate however showcased the respect and admiration they have for each other’s work in the music industry.
As these influential producers continue to make their mark on the hip-hop world. It’s evident that their contributions will shape the genre for years to come.
