The Bronx rap sensation, Ice Spice triumphs at MTV VMAs, as she claimed the prestigious Best New Artist award, delivering a heartfelt acceptance speech.

Donning an all-white tutu dress paired with dazzling diamond accessories, Ice Spice triumphs at MTV VMAs, as she took the award on stage in Newark, New Jersey.

On September 12, visibly moved as she addressed her supporters and expressed gratitude to God for her Moonman award.

“Y’all, thank you so much. Thank you MTV. Oh my God, this is so cool. I just want to thank my Munchkins. I love you guys so much. I want to thank my manager James. I want to thank my producer Riot [USA] for making the best music with me.” Said Ice Spice.

With genuine appreciation, she continued…

“Shoutout to all the other nominees in this category. Shoutout to my label 10K and Capitol for always supporting me. And of course, God. Without God, none of this would be possible. Shoutout the Bronx, period! Thank you guys, I love you so much!”

Although, Ice Spice triumphed over strong contenders like GloRilla, Kaliii, Peso Pluma. Including PinkPantheress, and Reneé Rapp, securing her first Best New Artist award.

This victory continues the trend of female artists dominating the Best New Artist category at the VMAs.

Ice Spice joins a league of extraordinary talents, following in the footsteps of Cardi B (2018), Billie Eilish (2019) and Doja Cat (2019). With Olivia Rodrigo (2021), and Dove Cameron (2022) also added to the list.

However, with a promising career ahead, the 23-year-old rapper’s trajectory is gaining momentum. She was recently recognized by Billboard as Rookie of the Year for 2023. 

Reflecting on her achievements, Ice Spice stated…

“I have put in so much hard work, and it means a lot to be recognized for it and have more than just plaques to show for it. I hope to push the genre forward in whatever ways I can, but I know I’ll have a huge impact on the youngins coming up now.”

Billboard bestowed this honor upon Ice Spice in recognition of her four Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. It featured blockbuster collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

Notably, in May, Ice Spice broke a record previously held by Nicki. She achieved the largest streaming debut for a female rapper in global Spotify history. This was done with her “Karma” collaboration with Swift.

Released as a bonus on Swift’s deluxe album “Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition),”. It garnered a staggering 5.036 million streams on its first day, propelling “Karma” to No. 5 on the global Spotify chart.
