Dreamville Launches Its Own Media and Content Company

J. Cole’s record label Dreamville is expanding.It has been announced today that the label is launching Dreamville Ventures, a multi-disciplinary media company as well as Dreamville Studios, a content studio that will produce original content, reports Variety. The two new entities will venture into verticals across music, TV and film, publishing, apparel and live events (including the annual Dreamville Festival).

Former editor-in-chief of Complex Media, Damien Scott will take care of Dreamville Ventures while former senior vp of development at Wilmore Films, Candace Rodney will oversee Dreamville Studios. Further details about what’s in store next for the two companies have not been revealed yet.

Said J. Cole about the development: “Dreamville has always been a mom-and-pop operation with grand ambitions and ideas that extend far beyond music. The hiring of Damien and Candace not only expands our family business with two of the smartest and most capable executives in the industry, but allows us to take a massive leap towards turning those big ideas into reality.”
