A juror from YNW Melly’s trial of double murder in Florida has stepped forward. She asserted that the rapper, known for “Murder on My Mind,” was unjustly framed.

Juror No. 7, whose identity remains concealed for safety reasons, spoke to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

She revealed that the absence of consistent evidence led her to vote not guilty for YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons.

“I believe that he didn’t do it and it wasn’t proved in court,” stated the Fort Lauderdale resident. “This was a really bad situation of being framed. Melly was a very good person. He always tried to help out people around him.”

Furthermore, Juror No. 7 disclosed that while most jurors initially leaned toward convicting YNW Melly.

They were deterred by the prosecution’s efforts to link his actions to “gang activity”,which was seen as racial profiling.

Notably, both YNW Melly and the majority of the jury, including Juror No. 7, are Black. While the prosecutor is white, intensifying the racial profiling allegations.

“This was not a matter of fact but a matter of race,” she emphasized. “I wasn’t there, but I believe he was being framed, based on the text messages.”

It remains unclear if Juror No. 7 is the same juror who reportedly influenced two others to declare Melly not guilty. This action lead to the mistrial with a 9-3 vote.

However, the trial’s new date, postponed from October 2 to October 9 at the request of Melly’s attorney Stuart Adelstein, has been set by Judge John J. Murphy III. Adelstein cited vacation plans as the reason for the delay.

As Melly left the courtroom in shackles, he was seen grinning and silently mouthing, “I’m coming home,” to family members in the gallery.

YNW Melly’s trial is due to the October 2018 double murder of his friends. Their names were YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams), and YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas Jr.)
