Mozzy gives credit to his kids for assisting him in overcoming his addiction struggles.
Mozzy has been transparent about his battles with substance misuse, attributing his recovery to his kids.
In a live interview with Home Grown Radio last week, the 36-year-old talked about the depth of his previous vices, how he overcame self-destructive tendencies brought on by excessive alcohol intake, and other topics.
At 15:45, he added, “I’m just saying, though, addiction is real.” “Anyone who has ever struggled with an addiction of that kind would understand exactly what I’m saying. I’ve had moments where I’ve put it down, picked it up, put it down, picked it up, put it down, picked it up.”
“I just have to look at my kids and say, ‘I have to be here, I have to be here for the long haul,'” he continued. “I was inspired to put it down by that.”
Mozzy also expressed gratitude to a classmate last year for supporting him in maintaining his motivation despite his circumstances. The hitmaker of “I Ain’t Perfect” reunited with Killer Mike in December. Following their moving “SHED TEARS” duet on HipHopDX’s 2023 album of the year, Michael, the two expressed their gratitude to one another.
“Welcome home,” the Run The Jewels MC said to Mozzy, who was held in police custody prior to the meeting for a shooting that involved someone from his crew in Kansas.
After giving Mike his flowers, the rapper and musician from California said, “Congratulations and much continued success.” I can’t wait to resume work and spend time with my loved ones. Thank you for the little side step. You are aware of my struggles; I have to fight every day to either continue or change into something different.
