YG and 4hunnid Imprint Lock in Multi-Album Collab With BMG
With the new partnership that YG label, 4Hunnid, has formed with BMG, his old agreement with Epic Records has come to an end.
The native of California said that the arrangement was “officially official” as of Wednesday, April 3, in a statement to Billboard.
YG told the magazine, “BMG is making big waves in the industry right now.” “With this collaboration, my music will reach new heights. The BMG group is aware of my goals for both my music and business. I’m excited about the future of my brand and what is ahead.
Tim Reid, SVP of repertoire & marketing at BMG, said in a statement to the source, “Our partnership with YG isn’t just about music; it’s about expressing his voice, embracing his vision, supporting his entrepreneurship, and helping amplify his next movement.”
In 2020, YG and Epic Records began their prior collaboration, which was limited to the exclusive release, distribution, and marketing of new songs from the independent record label based in Los Angeles.
The soon-to-be 30-year-old was previously signed to Def Jam, where he released multiple multi-platinum hits, including “Big Bank,” “Who Do You Love?”, “Why You Always Hatin?” (featuring Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, and Drake), and “My Nigga,” which also featured Kamiyah.
In a press release at the time, YG stated, “Me and my team have been doing innovative, legendary stuff—helping keep the West Coast alive.” Now, Epic provides us with a platform for growth at the ideal moment. I shall take full use of this chance, which I am proud of.
The renowned chairwoman and CEO of Epic Records, Sylvia Rhone, concurred, saying, “We at Epic are delighted by this joint venture with YG and his forward-thinking 4HUNNID brand.” YG is the epitome of the modern hip-hop artist—flexible, imaginative, multidimensional, rooted in tradition but aware of the latest fashions. This is a thrilling addition to our services and lineup.
