Jason Derulo Faces Lawsuit Due To Sexual Harassment
Jason Derulo faces lawsuit for sexual harassment from an aspiring singer, Emaza Gibson. She claims that the “Take You Dancing” singer dropped her from his label after she rebuffed his sexual advances.
According to NBC News, Jason Derulo faces lawsuit filed by Gibson on Thursday (October 5). This was done with the aim of seeking compensation for…
“unpaid wages, loss of earnings, deferred compensation, and other employment benefits”.
As well as damages for emotional distress. The exact amount she is suing for remains unspecified.
In her allegations, Gibson accuses Derulo of engaging in quid pro quo sexual harassment.
She claims that Derulo promised her a record deal if she engaged in a sexual relationship with him but rescinded the offer when she refused.
Additionally, Gibson alleges that Derulo attempted to entice her with cocaine and alcohol as part of the deal.
Shockingly, she also asserts that Derulo insisted on a goat sacrifice before engaging in sexual activities to intimidate her.
However, Ron Zambrano, Gibson’s attorney, stated…
“[Jason Derulo] not only broke promises and breached contracts, but his threats of physical harm and unconscionable sexual advances toward this young woman who is just trying to break into the industry were outrageous and illegal”.
Furthermore, Gibson expressed her disbelief at Derulo’s behavior, saying…
“How could you be a person and do this to somebody? Like, why? Why? I’ve been doing this all my life. This is something I’ve wanted to do as a little girl. And you don’t have to bend your morals to get to certain places”.
Although, this legal battle adds to Derulo’s recent legal troubles. In August, he faced a lawsuit from music producer Matthew Spatola.
Matthew claimed he was not credited for his contributions to Derulo’s chart-topping track, “Savage Love.”
Also, Spatola sought credit and compensation for his work on the song, alleging that Derulo unilaterally released it without acknowledging his contributions.
Derulo’s legal challenges continue to unfold as he navigates these complex legal disputes.
