Eminem And Machine Gun Kelly Named As Targets By A Shooter
Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly were among the targets named by the man responsible for a shooting in Jacksonville, Florida, over the weekend.
The shooter who is 21-year-old, named Ryan Palmeter, killed three Black people at a Dollar General store before taking his own life.
In writings examined by Rolling Stone, the shooter had expressed racist and homophobic sentiments, revealing his desire to kill both Eminem and MGK.
The writings included derogatory comments about Eminem, calling him various aliases and making offensive remarks about his music. The shooter stated that Eminem was to be considered a “valid target” and “killed on sight.”
Ryan Palmeter also mentioned Machine Gun Kelly, stating that he wanted to kill him as well. He referred to MGK as “Honorable n-gger” and expressed regret that he had not been able to target him in Ohio.
FBI Director Christopher Wray mentioned the shooter’s writings during a briefing, where he stated that the investigation revealed the perpetrator’s intentions, motivations, and hate through his own words and actions.
The shooter entered the Dollar General store armed with a handgun and AR-15 rifle with swastika markings. He had previously been seen at a Family Dollar store and on the campus of Edward Waters University.
Authorities revealed that the shooter’s writings expressed a hatred against African Americans, as well as anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-Semitic sentiments.
However, the weapons and body armor used in the attack had references to previous mass shootings, indicating a potential desire to inspire similar acts.
While the incident highlights the disturbing convergence of hate speech, violence, and the targeting of individuals within the entertainment industry.
