As Illmatic prepares to commemorate its 30th anniversary, Nas has made his way back to his childhood home in the Queensbridge Projects.

The rap icon shared a photo of himself on a seat outside the housing complexes on Instagram on Sunday, April 7, writing, “Humble origins.” thirty years. Feeling appreciative.

The picture looks to have been taken in the same spot as the pictures in the Ilmatic brochure.

Some of Nas’s other rap artists expressed their approval of his journey down memory lane, with DJ Premier—who worked on the iconic album—commenting, “QB’s Finest!”

Emojis of celebration were also left by Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killah, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Hit-Boy, Esco’s current production collaborator, and others.

The New York State Senate recently honoured Nas and his historic album.

When you were twenty years old, what were you doing? asked Senator Jamaal T. Bailey. Several of us attended college. We were coming into our own. Nasir Jones, also referred to as Nas, was producing Illmatic, the best Hip Hop album ever.

Nas has been a Hip Hop griot, or, to use a more accurate term, the street’s emergency response system. You shouldn’t listen to rap music if your top five doesn’t include Nas.

Additionally, Senator James Sanders Jr. stated: “Let me just conclude by reminding everyone that the modern world is home to seven recognised wonders.” Allow me to present Queens’ eighth.
