Young Thug Pleads Guilty in YSL Case, Released on Probation
Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, has pleaded guilty in the YSL case and will be released on probation following over 900 days in jail. As part of his non-negotiated plea deal, Williams will serve 15 years on probation after pleading no contest to charges related to racketeering and criminal street gang activities. His charges included violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, handgun possession during a felony, and involvement in gang activity. This case, Georgia’s longest in history, also tied Williams to a 2015 murder using a rental car linked to him.
In court, Williams took responsibility, apologizing to his family and expressing his commitment to change. He reflected on his influence as a public figure, noting that rap lyrics can be misinterpreted. “I’m 100% changing that,” he assured the court.
Judge Paige Reese Whitaker set strict probation terms for Williams: he must remain outside metropolitan Atlanta for the first ten years, returning only for specific events with a 48-hour limit. Williams is also required to host quarterly anti-gang and anti-gun programs in the community and complete 100 hours of community service annually. He is prohibited from associating with known gang members or affiliates, a condition aimed at supporting his commitment to a new path forward.
