A short documentary featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd has been released in advance of their next collaborative album, which falls into the “Genre Sadboy”.

The movie, which was directed by Sam Cahill and released on Thursday, March 21, takes viewers inside the Ohio natives’ studio sessions while they worked on the record, providing an inside look at their off-the-dome creative process. There is also behind-the-scenes film of a music video shoot, a private jet flight, two people rapping a verse by Lil Wayne, and a lot of marijuana smoking.

JID also appears, possibly teasing a feature on the project that will launch this Friday, March 29.

“You guys watching that doc means a lot because i definitely felt a way about releasing that kind of raw studio footage,” MGK said on Twitter/X shortly after the documentary’s publication to his followers.

Trippie Redd and Machine Gun Kelly had previously worked together on several songs, such as “Candy” from 2019’s Hotel Diablo album and “All I Know” from 2020’s Tickets To My Downfall, a pop-punk record by MGK. During the Cleveland artist’s 2022 Mainstream Sellout tour, Trippie served as his opening act.

Machine Gun Kelly returned to his rap roots with the 2023 street hit “Pressure,” following the previously mentioned move to punk/rock with both Tickets and Mainstream Sellout albums.

Following the release of several YouTube freestyles, Kells dropped his most recent track, “don’t let me go,” which was produced by SlimXX and BazeXX, in February.

In the music video for the new song, the Cleveland star opens up about his flaws and weaknesses. He talks about his emotional instability, childhood trauma, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse, and how he lost trust in people after asking for help in public and then being ignored.
