Lil Wayne Opens Up About Super Bowl Halftime Snub

During his Lil Weezyana Fest at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Nov. 2, Wayne, also known as Tunechi, addressed the disappointment of not being chosen for the 2025 Super Bowl performance. The rapper, who was celebrated with two honorary days in the city and a Hot Boys reunion, shared his thoughts on the halftime show going to Kendrick Lamar instead.

Reflecting on a special memory from 2009, when he had a suite at the Miami Super Bowl for his family, Wayne told fans, “I told myself then, I want to be on stage at the Super Bowl one day in front of my mom, and I worked my ass off for it. That moment was taken from me, but this moment right here, they can’t take that.”

Lil Wayne Admits Disappointment Over the Decision

This isn’t the first time he’s spoken about the snub. In September, Wayne shared a heartfelt video online, thanking fans for their support and admitting the news stung deeply. “It hurt a lot,” he admitted. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for the letdown, for assuming that was my spot.”

Wayne’s candid reaction shows the personal significance this performance held for him, and his words resonated with fans who felt he deserved the stage.
