DJ Premier Talks Dr. Dre Didn’t Let 50 Cent Record With Him Due To Aftermath Deal
DJ Premier is a good producer and has worked with some hip-hop rappers. His latest album Hip Hop 50 Vol 1. which was released on July 15th of this month featured Lil Wayne Nas and other rappers who assisted the album to its best. Apart from that, other rappers would have even worked with in the past. DJ Premier and 50 Cent would have a dope hit over the year but couldn’t happen.
However, DJ Premier recent had an interview on The Breakfast Club. There he brought to notice his relationship with 50 Cent. From what he said, DJ Premier and 50 Cent would have done their link-up since but. DJ Premier AKA Preem noted that Dr Dre didn’t let Fiddy record with him due to aftermath deal. He revealed in the interview.
The first single I was gonna drop was a 50 Cent record and this is when everybody wasn’t really messin’ with Fif’ to the fullest. He was having so much drama after doing ‘How To Rob’. Me and Fif’ hit it off right away and clicked when I got on the phone with him.”
50 agreed to do the song but when it was time to get in the studio, Preem got another phone call.
“We get a call. ‘Fif’ can’ do it’. I’m like ‘why not?’ They like ‘he’s about to sign to Eminem and Dr. Dre’ and I’m like ‘no, because they already committed to us’… I talked to Dre, Dre was like ‘Preem, I love you, but he’s not doing any more recording until he does his debut album.”
The two wouldn’t collaborate until ‘Shut Your Bloodclot Mouth’ many, many years later. Check out the clip below.
